The water's border control center
The path of the city
All of these pictures were taken at the huron river dam, but I will discuss each separate section of the dam in this artist statement. The first section of the dam displays where I presume that most of the paper work would be done in. No one is allowed to go in publicly hence the fence. There are cameras around the area that add to the security. I've attempted to find where the cameras are and sort of make my own shot within them. Whenever I know there's a camera recording me in terms of security, I always try to pose. I feels kind of fun to have the possibility of someone seeing me doing something out of the ordinary of the select few that simply walk by. After you walk by that building, you'll be able to make your way to either the dam, or a walk way that leads to a nature walk. When you make your way to to the dam, you'll be able to notice two things, the rail way that goes across the river and the dam itself. The dam has a nice mix of an old timeless feel to it. The building that supposedly holds the controls to the dam is quite worn down. What gives it a timeless flow to it is really the river that flows through it. In mind you have the dam that controls the flow of water, but you have the river that will let it's waters flow merely endlessly. A river doesn't exactly have a time to it, but instead just an aspect of nature. The dam is quite separate from the rest of the city; a nice get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Finally, we have the railroad built above the river. This rail road leads from Ann arbor to Chicago. The funny thing is that from what I've learned about, is that apparently in Chicago, you don't necessarily need a car to travel around and get around. I've always wanted to think about going on a train to visit Chicago honestly. Throw away the life here in Michigan, forget my school life, forget my family, forget everything and make my life in the city. Start from being a cashier, a restaurant worker, and make my way up through either my writing, or maybe even something else. You could say that this railway is sort of a dream way. It could take me to places that I've always thought about going to. Sometimes to go there, I wouldn't even need to be on the train.
